Last week, I posted a quote that referenced how awesome falling in love is. Falling In Love Rocks, to be exact. It’s true, it does. It’s also easy to forget how electrifying and passionate those early days are, when everything was new and exciting.

This quote sinks deep into my heart. Over the past 10 years that I’ve known Matt, and the nearly 5 years that we’ve been married, I know that I have fallen in love with him more than once. I fell in love with him again when he came back from his deployment to Iraq; as I waited anxiously for the buses to arrive and for him to finally be in my arms again, I could feel it. When I saw him for the first time in 7 months, I fell. Again.

Like this quote says, a successful marriage requires work; it requires repeatedly falling in love. Always with the same person. Doing that requires effort, work, and intention.

And many, many date nights.
